Here are the appointments to schedule every year.

  1. Primary Care Physician
  2. OBGYN
  3. Optometrist
  4. Dentist

1) Primary Care Physician

A primary care physician will check your heart rate, blood pressure, and reflexes and update your medical history. See a primary care physician when you notice any changes in your health. They can also test your blood sugar level, kidney function, cholesterol level, and liver function.

Visiting an obstetrician-gynecologist can be helpful, especially if you are pregnant. They will examine your cervix, uterus, fallopian tubes, ovaries, bladder, and rectum. The doctor can also detect any form of abnormalities during the examination. If you are sexually active, you can also test for sexually transmitted infections, such as chlamydia, syphilis, and hepatitis B.

3) Optometrist

Seeing an optometrist for an eye exam should be part of your annual visits. The doctor will examine your eye for any defect affecting your vision. They will check for signs of cataracts, glaucoma, and macular degeneration. If you have already put on contact lenses or eyeglasses, you can use this opportunity to update your prescription.

4) Dentist

Your dental health also matters a lot, and that’s why you must also schedule a visit to a dentist once every six months. The doctor will do a routine cleaning by clearing the stains and plaque on your teeth. If you often experience pain or issues with your teeth or mouth, use this opportunity to discuss it with the dentist.

Bonus: Dermatologist

It will be better if you also do a skin cancer screening, and that’s where a dermatologist comes in to help. This is important when you have a family history of skin cancer. The doctors will examine the spots, lesions, and moles on your skin and prescribe the right treatment.

However, if you notice a significant change in your skin, schedule an appointment immediately. Don’t wait for the next checkup.
